Attention kids, any aspiring filmmakers out there? If you think you’re the next Steven Spielberg or James Cameron, why not show off your talents for the world to see at the next Science and Engineering Festival, which is taking place April 26-27 in Washington D.C .? The Festival is sponsoring a contest for students in grades 6 through 12. To enter, you have to submit a short film (30-90 seconds) that showcases an example of science in popular culture.
Interplanetary travel, time travel, telepathy, teleportation, brain powered computers, recombinant DNA, bionic limbs, cyborgs, and cryonics are just some of the far-fetched technologies Hollywood has given us. There’s a lot of science in movies, on TV, and in video games! Help us find it by making a film about your discovery. Tell us how the science and/or technology of today will affect what we see on the screen in the future.
Enter the contest any time between November 1, 2013 and March 21, 2014, and you could win the $2000 first prize and a trip to the Festival in Washington DC. Even if you don’t win, you could still take home cash ($750 for second place), ($500 for third), and ($250 for the people’s choice award). Other prizes include software and even stunt training.
